"stuck"-out banner?
ok first off, i'm not sure if this is supposed to be in the improvements, but i found out that on our old banner, everyone knows how it "stuck" out right? so i used that on a small "iBook G4" and it stuck out. but now i just got a new comp and it turned out that the whole thing is now centered. I think that the banner just "sticks" out depending on your computer screen size and resolution.
Thoughts anyone?

Hey HDN,
Fisrt of all: this shouldn't be in here (in improvements )
Secondly: What you think IS indeed possible, if your screen is smaller than the website's width, you'll see a.. weird looking thing that's supposed to be the website..
But: becuz many people still have an 800x600 screen, a lot of websites are based on THAT screensize..
Another thing: Some websites look like this:
(example)
Do you see the Banner?!
It looks as if it's from one side of your screen to the next, right?
But most websites are "build" like this:
The "Bleach-section" is centered:
This part:
And then this piece is just "copied" to fit the size of your screen.
(I took a large piece, so you can see it clearer, but normally this piece is about 1 or 2 or maybe 3 pixels in width..)

Re: "stuck"-out banner?
i see... so now we wait for vas to move it somewhere o.o
oh so i didn't know it was copied.... so basically, the bigger your computor screen, the better the centering will be right?
but then.. isn't it possible to have a function that sort of shrinks the banner to be centered depending on your screen size? because i think i heard of a tool liek that from my friend...

Re: "stuck"-out banner?
Well.. HDN..
Actually: the centering doesn't get "better" is you have a bigger screen, the background of the website (so where there is no text) will be bigger at both sides of the.. 'context'-site (where the text is).
So it SEEMS as if the website is centered better or shrunk, while in fact: the context area and the banner stay the same size, but there is more copying and the background is larger..
Ehh.. I don't know how to explain this..
Lemme make another picture..
If a website is made at a 1024x768 screen, it's supposed to look like this:
While a screen thats smaller in size (example: 800x600) shows it like this:
(The black and white striped thingies) But: you can also see that whatever the screen size is, the centering of the "BLEACH" part stays centered.
And there is no such "tool" that can shrink a banner to be centered.
If you are coding a website you can pinpoint the exact location where you want certain images to start (like 400 pixels from the left etc..) but you can also just tell the program to "center" the image. That way the image (here: the banner/header) will be centered no matter what your screensize is.
You can also tell this program to "copy" the black/white stripes fitting to the screensize of the viewer.
Is this understandable? I'm not sure how to explain this properly
